Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Upstream Project Lead to join our growing team in the Oil & Gas industry. To be successful in this role, you must have a deep and extensive understanding of upstream activities that include exploration, drilling, development and production. You should possess excellent leadership abilities, as you will be responsible for supervising and leading multidisciplinary team and ensuring that they are working efficiently and effectively. With your extensive knowledge of the industry and technical expertise, you will play a crucial role in driving the successful execution of projects and ensuring the highest standards of competency, safety, quality.
Main Responsibilities
- To monitor, oversee and facilitate upstream project activities in upstream blocks (“the blocks”)
- Develop and identify strategies to optimize exploration, drilling and production activities in the blocks.
- Oversee the planning, execution and delivery of upstream projects to ensure that they are completed on time, within budget and with highest quality standards.
- Ensure proper operational excellence approach to enhance Company effectiveness in managing and delivering upstream projects.
- To coordinate governance and performance management of joint ventures, production sharing agreements, joint operating agreements, audits, forecast and work program budget cost and schedule.
- Facilitate corporate business planning, annual strategic planning and financial KPI planning in respect of the blocks.
- Lead and conduct economic opportunity and technical evaluations of capital investments and developments.
- Manage commercial assets and contractual negotiation as well as to provide investment evaluation and advisory support to protect investment interest.
- Monitor, assess and manage project costs and monthly cash calls in ensuring financial targets are met and sustainable.
- Negotiate contract and claims disputes by engaging closely with JV partners, shareholder committee, suppliers and marketing teams.
- To lead and manage a team of multi-disciplines and other professionals involved in upstream projects.
- Lead, promote and comply with Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policies, guidelines and initiatives.
Position Requirements
- Must have at least a Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Engineering. Geoscience or a related field.
- Minimum of 20 years of working experience in oil & gas upstream projects and operations, or equivalent.
- Experience in upstream project development and commercial management
- Well versed with upstream joint venture agreements, production sharing agreements, Joint operating agreements, gas sales agreements.

- Excellent financial and business analysis skills and understanding in contract negotiations;
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability with positive working attitude;
- Must be well organized, work independently & have the ability to multi-task, lead and work in teams;
- Must be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines;
- Good command of spoken and written Malay and English languages.
