Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Automation and Control (PACO) Design Engineer to lead and oversee the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems within our upstream oil and gas operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, compliance, and efficiency of control systems that support safe and reliable production processes.
Main Responsibilities
- To lead and oversee all Process Automation and Control (PACO) engineering aspects across the EPCIC phases of the project. Ensure that control systems, instrumentation, and safety systems are designed, procured, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and operational requirements.
- Lead the review and assurance of control system philosophies, architecture diagrams, cause & effect charts, control narratives, and logic diagrams.
- Ensure design compliance with project specifications, IEC/ISA standards, API, and client requirements.
- Review technical requisitions and evaluate vendor offers for automation systems and field instrumentation.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for control and safety systems with vendors and BEST Project representatives.
- Provide engineering support during instrument installation, cable routing, panel placement, and marshalling cabinet integration.
- Ensure instrumentation installation and calibration is as per design and meets hazardous area classification requirements (ATEX/IECEx).
- Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning of PACO systems, including logic verification and control system tuning.
- Troubleshoot control system and instrumentation issues during start-up and performance testing.
- Coordinate interfaces between automation systems and third-party packages (e.g., compressor control, fire and gas systems, tank gauging).
- Lead preparation of as-built documentation, redlines, and final instrumentation/automation dossiers.
- Support the development of maintenance and operating manuals, and provide training to operations/maintenance personnel.
- Provide input to the departmental budget.
- Identify areas and subsequently record all cost savings initiatives made by the department.
Position Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Control Systems, Instrumentation, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering preferred) or a related field.
- At least 8 years of professional experience in process automation, control systems design and implementation.
- Having Project Management and/or Front-End Engineering experience in handling engineering consultant, experience in oil and gas related matters would be an added advantage.
- Relevant certifications in process control systems (e.g., DCS, PLC, SCADA, etc.) are preferred.
