Description
We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our growing team in the Oil & Gas industry. To be successful in this role, you must have a deep understanding of plant operations, vast operational knowledge, and extensive experience in the mid-downstream industry. You should possess excellent leadership abilities, as you will be responsible for supervising a team of engineers and ensuring that they are working efficiently and effectively. With your extensive knowledge of the industry and technical
expertise, you will play a crucial role in driving the successful execution of projects and ensuring the highest standards of competency, safety, quality.
Main Responsibilities
Pre-Operational
- To prepare and assist in developing operational frameworks required for an Operation Plant to achieve operational readiness.
- To develop and prepare operational readiness plans and roadmaps during EPCIC for implemented during operation phase.
- Plan and advise on recruitment strategy such as the selection of key and supporting personnel for operations and to determine resources required to operate the plant.
- Manage and oversee staffing requirements including hiring, training and performance evaluations.
- To develop processes and strategy for the management of the administrative and technical teams as well as subcontractors during operational phase of the plant including inventory and asset management.
Operations
- To oversee day-to-day operations relating to the plant.
- To develop and implement strategies, techniques and methods of process control which increases plant efficiency, reduce cost and improve safety on site including managing emergency response
teams. - To ensure safe working practices and clearly defined procedures are developed, provide guidance on compliance, safety standard and operational procedures that are required.
- Oversees and optimises the daily operations of the plant and its related infrastructure operations by creating, implementing & managing continuous improvement.
Financial, People Management & HSSE
- Prepare and plan for annual budget and 5-year outlook for the efficient operations of the plant.
- Review operational data and financial reports to ensure performance targets are being met or exceeded.
- Provide guidance, coaching and transfer of skills and knowledge to operators and personnel of the plant.
- Lead, promote and comply with Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policies, guidelines and initiatives.
Position Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Must have at least 12 years of working experience in engineering, plant operations, or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years of technical experience in oil & gas or downstream industry with knowledge of manufacturing production and processes.
- First rate communication (both written and verbal) in both Malay and English, strong leadership skills and a track record of effective team working, preferably knowledge of facilitation techniques and
enthusiasm for learning through experience both inside and outside own technical discipline.

- Strong personal drive, technical acumen and able to manage wide variety of activities and projects;
- Excellent financial and business analysis skills and understanding in contract negotiations;
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability with positive working attitude;
- Must be well organized, work independently & have the ability to multi-task, lead and work in teams;
- Must be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines;
- Good command of spoken and written Malay and English languages.
